Results are discussed of investigations into the utilization of urea N and soya bean N by lactating dairy cows which received the following carbohydrate sources in addition to their basal ration: maize, oats/tapioca (1:1), barley, tapioca, oats and molassed beet pulp. 3 experiments, involving 6 groups of 4 animals, each, were carried out in 5 successive N balance periods using either soya bean meal or urea as protein sources.
