Marked Italian bees were observed at feeding stations where sucrose solutions, containing clove oil or lavender oil, were provided. After the food source had become established, frequency of Nasonov gland exposure by marked foragers, and level of dancing in the hive, were both inversely related to the concentration of scent in the food.
