Under 9-h days, nine varieties and local forms of Chinese origin showed a delay of 3-32 days in earing, while six others were 6-46 days earlier, as compared with their behaviour under continuous light. The first group required 36-59 days to earing in continuous light but was more uniform (61-68 days) under 9-h days; an exception was No. 16123, a local form from Shansi, which needed 93 and 96 days, respectively.
