Ostrinia nubilalis (Hb.) has been known for about ten years as a damaging pest of hops in Alsace, north-eastern France. It was shown in 1971 that larvae tunnelled in the stems and caused either wilting (cf. preceding abstract) or malformation of the cones, with consequent reduction in yield and loss in quality. Two insecticides were tested against the Pyralid in 1970.
