The rearing of the oriental fruit moth (Grapholitha molesta Busck) under artifical conditions

The rearing of the oriental fruit moth (Grapholitha molesta Busck) under artifical conditions

A Novenyvedelmi Kutato Intezet Kozlemenyei 5: 5-17

The author gives details of a technique that, although not previously formally described, has been extensively used in Hungary since the early 1950's for the rearing of many species of Lepidoptera. The rearing of Cydia (Grapholitha) molesta (Busck) by this method is described. The moth was reared in small green apples that had been stored at a low temperature and were then placed in large glass cylinders kept at 23-28 deg C under a photoperiod of 17 h.
