The resistant level of the housefly to several synthetic insecticides in Kochi Prefecture, Japan



Botyu Kagaku 37(3): 91-93



The LD50's of malathion, dichlorvos (DDVP), fenitrothion (Sumithion), diazinon, bromophos, allethrin, pyrethrins and gamma BHC were determined for adults of Musca domestica vicina Macq. that were collected in 11 places in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, and the LD50's of tetramethrin (phthalthrin), resmethrin, Proparthrin ((2-methyl-5-(2-propynyl)-3-furyl)methyl chrysanthemate, also known as Kikuthrin), Prothrin (5-(2-propynyl)furfuryl chrysanthemate, also known as furamethrin) and synergised allethrin and pyrethrins were determined for those collected in five of the places. All the flies were susceptible to dichlorvos, fenitrothion and bromophos and resistant to gamma BHC. Those from Kiragawa, Murotomisaki and Yasui were highly resistant to malathion, with LD50's of 84.83, 68.82 and 6.72 mu g/fly, those from Tosashimizu, Maenohama and Yasui were partly resistant to allethrin, with LD50's of 1.728, 3.044 and 1.937 mu g/fly, and those from the last two places were partly resistant to pyrethrins, with LD50's of 1.707 and 2.177 mu g/fly.
