The response of mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal rooted cuttings of heather (Calluna vulgaris (L.) Hull) to variations in nutrient and water regimes

The response of mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal rooted cuttings of heather (Calluna vulgaris (L.) Hull) to variations in nutrient and water regimes

New Phytologist 73(1): 81-89

In pot trials, (a) mycorrhizal and (b) non-mycorrhizal rooted cuttings of C. vulgaris were grown in a synthetic rooting medium and given Knop's solution at intervals of 1, 3 or 6 weeks and maintained under waterlogged or drained conditions. DM yield was highest in drained conditions with weekly application of nutrients. Yields of (a) were lower than those of (b), except in drained conditions with low nutrient status.
