Toxicity of certain insecticides to the adults of Coccinella septempunctata Linn. fed on adults of Brevicoryne brassicae Linn. poisoned with insecticides

Progress in Horticulture 2(4): 91-96

In the laboratory in India, adults of Brevicoryne brassicae (L.) were fed on leaves of Brassica rugosa that had been treated with various insecticides, and the aphids were then used as food for adults of Coccinella septempunctata L. Phosphamidon proved the safest insecticide as regards the predators, causing about 48.5% mortality 72 h after their confinement with poisoned aphids. Dimethoate and parathion at 0.03% and methyl-demeton at 0.025% were moderately toxic to them.
