Trials with 2- and 6-row barley (Hordeum sativum L.) varieties sown in autumn or spring in the Torino plain

Trials with 2- and 6-row barley (Hordeum sativum L.) varieties sown in autumn or spring in the Torino plain

Sementi Elette 19(5): 9-27

Results of 7 trials in 1968-71 which included 56 2-row and 19 6-row barley cultivars sown in spring or autumn are given. The 2-row cultivars generally gave higher yields than the 6-row and autumn sowing gave higher yields than spring sowing. The 2-row cultivars had greater hl weights than the 6-row cultivars. The highest grain yield of 6.15 t/ha was given by Sista sown in autumn 1969. Grain protein contents tended to be higher in 6-row than in 2-row cultivars.
