Trials with ethephon and other growth retardants on potted chrysanthemums

, : Trials with ethephon and other growth retardants on potted chrysanthemums. Acta Horticulturae 1974; (43, II): 381-391

In a series of trials pot plants of the Bright Golden Anne were treated with Ethrel (ethephon), Alar or B-Nine (daminozide), Phosphon (chlorphonium) or Pydanon 20 (pyridazinylacetic acid derivative) at various rates. Daminozide, as B- Nine (5% a.i.) rather than Alar (85% a.i.), gave the best results in terms of dwarfed plants, early flowering and flower quality. The foliage was sprayed with 2500 p.p.m. daminozide.
