Trials with herbicides in swedes, fodder rape, oilseed rape and marrowstem kale 1965-1970

Trials with herbicides in swedes, fodder rape, oilseed rape and marrowstem kale 1965-1970

Forskning og Forsoek i Landbruket 23(5): 459-478

Nitrofen at 2 kg/ha applied at the cotyledon stage of the crop gave good weed control, but there was a risk of crop damage to swedes. However, swede yields were increased more by this treatment than by treatment before emergence or at the 3- to 4-leaf stage. Liquid cyanamide (H2CN2) at >10 kg/ha caused severe crop damage and reduced yields. Calcium cyanamide at 150-250 kg/ha was less effective than nitrofen or propachlor and caused crop damage, but increased yields by 2-3%.
