Use of prostaglandin (PGF2 alpha ) for oestrus synchronisation in heifers

10 normally cycling heifers were given a subcutaneous injection of 30 mg PGF2 alpha on the 6th, 8th or 11th day of the oestrous cycle. All the heifers came into oestrus on the 3rd day after treatment and were inseminated with frozen semen 6 h following the appearance of oestrus and again 12 h later. 28 and 56 days after insemination, 7 and 6 resp. of the heifers were found to be pregnant.
