Lysimeter studies in a PVC house showed that when the internal and external temperatures were essentially the same there was a linear relationship between evapotranspiration and the solar energy entering the house; this was very close to the relationship obtained in the field. Moreover, when the house temperature was raised by 5-10 deg C above that outside the relationship did not differ significantly from that obtained in the absence of heating.
