Water uptake and radicle emergence of cottonseed as affected by soil moisture and temperature

In laboratory experiments, seed of cotton Deltapine 16 was sown in soil at 6 temperatures from 12.8 to 37.8 deg C with 0.3, 1, 3 or 10 bars soil moisture tension. Seeds did not germinate at 12.8 deg or at 15.6 deg with 10 bars moisture tension. Between 15.6 deg and 32.5 deg , radicle emergence time decreased rapidly in accordance with a regression equation containing only linear and second-order terms, with little change between 32.5 deg and 37.8 deg.
