Trials were carried out in 1966-70 in maize on a medium loam meadow-bog soil. Simazine at 2.5-10 kg/ha was applied pre-em. either in mixtures with atrazine, prometryne, monuron or diuron (all at 2.5 kg/ha pre-em.) or in combination with the same herbicides applied 45 days later at the 4- to 5-leaf stage of cockspur (Echinochloa crus-galli) and yellow foxtail Simazine at 5 kg/ha + monuron or + diuron or + atrazine (all 2.5 kg/ha) were the best pre-em. mixed treatments.
