This article, based on an unpublished thesis presented by G. Hasert at Leipzig in 1971 (Further development of work standards in livestock production, with particular reference to establishment of manning standards for mechanized and partially automated livestock farms), deals with problems of labour organization on farms and in particular with the establishment of manning standards specifying labour requirements, working hours, work sequences etc.
