Absorption and placental transfer of radiozinc was studied in two normal and two zinc-deficient gilts. Absorption and organ distribution was estimated in 16 newborn piglets from normal or zinc-deficient sows. In the deficient gilts, intestinal absorption of zinc was low and placental transfer high. There was no difference between intestinal absorption of zinc in normal and deficient piglets, absorption being completed within 12 hours in both cases.
