A comparative study of the caryotypes of Pinus cretacea Kalen. and P. sylvestris L. in populations from the central chernozem

A comparative study of the caryotypes of Pinus cretacea Kalen. and P. sylvestris L. in populations from the central chernozem

Genet, selektsiya i introduktsiya les porod 1: 10-31

The chromosome number of P. cretacea was established for the first time (2n = 24) and its caryotype was found to differ in certain respects from that of P. sylvestris, notably in the number and location of secondary constrictions and in the presence of chromosomes with a "classic" satellite (the latter being found in two populations of P. cretacea). The four populations of P. cretacea studied showed polymorphism in respect of their chromosome morphology.
