In the sesquidiploid (N. alata X N. glauca) X N. alata (2n = 30) and its allohexaploid (2n = 60), disturbances occurred at PMC meiosis which resulted in microspores and male gametes with different numbers of chromosomes. The pollen was partially sterile and in the allohexaploid considerably larger, often having four pores, as against the three pores of the F2 sesquidiploid.
