A need for the drainage of paddy fields to enable farm mechanization for double-cropping of rice in the Muda Irrigation Project. A joint study by the Muda Agricultural Development Authority, Malaysia, and the Tropical Agriculture Research Center, Japan

A need for the drainage of paddy fields to enable farm mechanization for double-cropping of rice in the Muda Irrigation Project. A joint study by the Muda Agricultural Development Authority, Malaysia, and the Tropical Agriculture Research Center, Japan

JARQ [Japan Agricultural Research Quarterly] 10(3): 119-124

The load bearing capacity and suitability for machinery of the surface layer (plough sole) of paddy soils in the Muda area decreased after the introduction of double cropping. The cone penetration index of the surface layer decreased rapidly as the ground water level rose.
