A preliminary field trial using Nosema fumiferanae against the Spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana

A preliminary field trial using Nosema fumiferanae against the Spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana

Bi monthly Research Notes 32(1): 2-3

In field experiments on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, ten Picea glauca trees were sprayed with a suspension of spores of this microsporidian (1 X 109 spores/ml) at a rate of 1500 ml/tree. At the time of spraying (June) C. fumiferana larvae were predominantly in the fourth instar.
