A study on the chilling resistance of rice seedlings. 2. On the physiological mechanism of chilling resistance and the effect of chemical treatment

In the chilling-resistant rice Taichung 65 and the susceptible Taichung Native No.1, dehydrogenase activity was closely correlated with chilling resistance. Treatment at 4 deg C decreased ATP content of the susceptible but not of the resistant cultivar. A close relationship was found between sugar or protein content and chilling resistance.
