A virus disease of Dieffenbachia 'Exotica'

Acta Horticulturae (59): 175-180

A virus disease of Dieffenbachia 'Exotica'

The virus, with flexuous rod-shaped particles, was transmitted from Exotica plants to seedlings of Philodendron selloum, where growth stunting, streaking and malformation of the leaves were induced. Peak length of 205 particles in P. selloum was 807 nm. Back inoculation to Exotica caused growth stunting, sometimes tip necrosis, malformation and brown necrotic edges to the leaves. The normal mosaic pattern sometimes changed to a dirty yellowish colour.
