Analysis of the mechanisms of immune expulsion from mice of Hymenolepis diminuta and Hymenolepis nana

Analysis of the mechanisms of immune expulsion from mice of Hymenolepis diminuta and Hymenolepis nana

Dissertation Abstracts International 37B(6): 2675

Expulsion of Hymenolepis diminuta from mice was found to be a thymus-dependent phenomenon by transfer of thymus cells or glands to nude mice. Similar experiments indicated that the expulsion of H. nana and the immunity to re-infection seen after tissue phase infection were also thymus-dependent. Inability to produce humoral antibody did not alter the ability of Balb/c mice to expel H. diminuta.
