In 1967-75, seed crops of the above grasses were given 62 kg N/ha on (a) 15 Aug., (b) 1 Sept., (c) 15 Sept. or (d) 1 Oct. and the regrowth was not cut or was cut on 15 Sept., 15 Oct. or 15 Nov., resp., in the 1st and 2nd seed-harvest yr. The grasses were undersown in barley and in the establishment yr N was applied 2 wk earlier and regrowth was cut 2 wk later than in subsequent yr.
