Biometrical characteristics of pollen grains from Karelian birch and birch from the Gorce population

Biometrical characteristics of pollen grains from Karelian birch and birch from the Gorce population

Fragmenta Floristica et Geobotanica 22(4): 417-422

The dimensions of pollen grains from 42 trees of one of the only two natural stands of Betula verrucosa var. carelica known in Poland were compared with those of a similar sample from B. verrucosa growing in the same locality, near Gorce. Pollen grains from the Karelian birch were smaller and varied less in their dimensions than those from the common form.
