Calf dyspepsia: morphological and functional relationships between the digestive system and adrenal cortex

Studies of the pathogenesis of dyspepsia were made at organ, tissue, cellular and subcellular levels, using 107 normal or affected newborn calves. In newborn calves, post-natal changes in the gastrointestinal tract included cell proliferation accompanying rapid increase of the mucosal surface, through deepening of the crypts and growth of villi; and also degeneration and disappearance of goblet cells.
