Plasma lipids and chemical, electrophoretic and electron microscopic properties of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) were studied in rabbits on a control diet (group I) or diets with 1% cholesterol (gr oup II), 1% cholesterol and 5% coconut oil (group III) or 1% cholesterol and 5% maize oil (group IV). The diets II, III and IV resulted in hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia and hyperphospholipidaemia.
