An Instron Tensile Testing Machine (Hindman and Burr, 1948) fitted with a 500 g load cell was used to measure the fruit retention strength of berries of Glen Clova, Glen Isla and Malling Jewel, varying in ripeness from under-ripe to over-ripe. The data are tabulated and graphically presented.
