Changes in the fruit retention strength of the red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) during ripening and their relevance to the selection of raspberry clones suitable for mechanical harvesting
An Instron Tensile Testing Machine (Hindman and Burr, 1948) fitted with a 500 g load cell was used to measure the fruit retention strength of berries of Glen Clova, Glen Isla and Malling Jewel, varying in ripeness from under-ripe to over-ripe. The data are tabulated and graphically presented.
