For the most part organic nitrogen fractions in acid hydrolysates mineralized by the decomposition of cells of B.subtilis was in the form of amino acid N. Cytoplasmic substances were mineralized quickly, but cell wall substances were mineralized slowly, except when subjected to ultrasonic or oven-drying pretreatment.
