Clinical evaluation of a Bifidobacterium preparation (R-103) in diarrhoea in dogs

Journal of the Japan Veterinary Medical Association 29(8): 439-442

A granulated preparation of Bifidobacterium pseudolongum, a member of the normal intestinal flora of the dog, was given orally to 30 dogs with acute or chronic diarrhoea. It contained 109 viable cells per gram and was given at a dose of 32-750 (average 113) mg/kg body weight daily for 10 days. An excellent or good response was obtained in 22 dogs; two showed some response, whereas six showed no response.
