In a study of 98 forms, including varieties differing in height and carrying 1-3 dwarfness genes, hybrid lines obtained by crossing tall varieties with Krasnodarskii karlik and also mutant forms, a positive correlation was found between plant height and coleoptile length, the coefficient being greatest in the varieties (r = 0.6), somewhat lower in the hybrids (r = 0.51), and lowest in the mutants (r = 0.37).
