Adenostoma sparsifolium brush in the Cleveland National Forest, southern California, was chained during the winter of 1973-74. A mixture of the butoxyethanol esters of 2,4-D + dichlorprop at 2 lb in 98 gal water + 1 gal diesel oil was applied to individual plants in January, May and August 1975. Average plant kill 12 months after treatment was only 20% for the January application and 6% for the August application.
