Cytological and genetic analysis of self-compatible plants obtained from crosses between triploid and diploid S-genotypes in Lycopersicum peruvianum

The triploid derived from a cross between a self-compatible tetraploid (S1S1S2S2) and a self-incompatible diploid (S1S4) did not produce fruits when self pollinated. Staining tests showed that 41.78% of the pollen grains of the triploid were fertile. Crosses of the triploid with diploid testers indicated that its constitution was S1S2S4. The 132 plants derived from triploid X diploid crosses were self pollinated.
