Determination of the optimum sowing date for eggplant and sweet pepper grown in the Sudan for export

, : Determination of the optimum sowing date for eggplant and sweet pepper grown in the Sudan for export. Acta Horticulturae (49): 175-183

Sowings made on 18 August and 8 October were compared at Shambat for 5 sweet pepper cvs. The first planting increased early yield by 1/2 t/feddan (1 feddan = 0.42 ha) and total yield by 41/2 t. The average fruit weight in the early yield from the first planting was double that from the second planting. The most productive cvs were Jade and Californian Wonder. In corresponding experiments on eggplant the first planting increased total yield by 111/2 t/feddan.
