Differentiation of mammary gland during pregnancy: the response to hormones of rabbit and goat mammary gland explants in organ culture

Differentiation of mammary gland during pregnancy: the response to hormones of rabbit and goat mammary gland explants in organ culture

Journal of Endocrinology 68(3): 32p-32p

Milk fat synthesis (which was used as a criterion to measure differentiation of mammary gland) was seen to increase during pregnancy and reach a max. in lactation in both rabbits and goats. This synthesis was further induced in rabbit by culturing mammary explants with hormones However in goats, the lipogenic response of mammary gland to hormones decreased throughout pregnancy.
