Digestibility and nutritive value of pangola grass (Digitaria decumbens Stent) in relation to nitrogen fertilization and harvesting time

In laboratory experiments and field trials in Queensland, Australia in 1972 Pangola grass, given 0 or 200 kg N/ha in split applications in May, Aug., Oct. and Nov., was harvested in June, Aug., Sep., Oct., Nov. and Dec. Without fertilization, in vivo DM digestibility was invariably low from June (44.7%) to Oct. (41.3%), then increased significantly in Nov. (48.2%) and Dec. (48.5%).
