Digestibility by preruminant calves of milk replacers with ultrafiltrate of whey as the only source of lactose

Digestibility by preruminant calves of milk replacers with ultrafiltrate of whey as the only source of lactose

Annales de Zootechnie 26(1): 29-43

In 2 trials the milk replacers compared had dried whey or ultrafiltrate of whey to supply lactose. In one trial the fish meal supplying protein was insoluble and in the other soluble. The third trial had replacers with the ultrafiltrate without or with emulsifier. When the ultrafiltrate replaced dried whey liveweight gain was about 16% less and days with diarrhoea increased from 1.4 to 11.8%.
