Dopamine-induced inhibition of prolactin and growth hormone secretion in acromegaly

Dopamine-induced inhibition of prolactin and growth hormone secretion in acromegaly

Lancet 1(7957): 485

It has been shown that some dopaminergic drugs (levodopa, apomorphine and bromocryptine) inhibit prolactin secretion and, in some acromegalic patients, secretion of growth hormone (GH). Data are given on plasma GH and prolactin levels (ng/ml) during and after intravenous administration of 280 mu g/min dopamine for 120 min in 4 bromocryptine-responsive acromegalics.
