The active life of heptachlor applied 4-5 days before sowing to the seeds of maize, barley, peas and sugar-beet in the form of an emulsion concentrate was investigated in the Ukraine in 1972-73 by analyses of the plants at suitable intervals for residues in the aerial parts, seeds and roots by a biological method involving exposure to adults of Drosophila.
