Effect of Scenedesmus acutus microalgae on digestibility of feeds by fattening calves and some blood values

Zhivotnovudni Nauki 12(5): 77-83

ISSN/ISBN: 0514-7441

Sofia Brown bulls 8 months old, with reentrant duodenal cannulae, were given the same feed without or with 1 litre centrifuged Scenedesmus acutus in suspension to give 200 to 500 X 106 cells/ml. It did not affect digestibility but it increased the relative proportion of digestion occurring in the intestines, and increased Hb, red cells and carotene in blood.
