Effect of aldicarb on growth and radio-carbon (14C) and radio-phosphorus (32P) assimilation by Rhizobium japonicum

The effect of soil application of the systemic insecticide aldicarb on growth and metabolism of the root nodule bacterium Rhizobium japonicum was determined in in vitro tests in the laboratory in India. The growth of the organism was stimulated during the first 48 h after the addition of the toxicant at concentrations of 1, 2 and 5 p.p.m., but it declined thereafter (up to 72 h).
