Effect of increase in N fertilizer application on the amino acid composition and nutritive value of spring wheat grain protein

Applying N at 50, 100 and 150 kg N/ha to 5 spring wheat cultivars increased the total protein content of the grain in all cultivars but only increased the content of true protein in Carola, Sonalike and Urbanka. Glytamic acid and proline contents were increased in these 3 cultivars and in Kalyan Sona, phenylalanine and leucine were increased in Sonalike and Urbanka and lysine content was reduced in Carola, Kolibri, Kalyan Sona and Urbanka.
