Effect of iron preparations by muscle or by mouth to prevent anaemia in piglets

Effect of iron preparations by muscle or by mouth to prevent anaemia in piglets

Veterinarnomeditsinski Nauki 12(1): 76-81

Fe3+ 0.1 g/kg by intramuscular injection as iron dextran prevented iron-deficiency anaemia and increased growth of pigs. Fe3+ 0.4 g or Fe2+ 1.28 g twice daily by mouth as the preparations Urzoferruvit or Taferon did not prevent anaemia in all treated pigs, and feed efficiency and growth were less than with injection of Fe.
