Large White gilts artificially inseminated were kept indoors permanently or allowed outside to exercise for 1.5 h daily. The ration of the control group during the first 84 days of pregnancy provided 3.24 feed units (FU) and 324 g digestible protein and for the month before farrowing 3.83 FU and 457 g digestible protein. In the second pregnancy intakes were 3.37 FU and 378 g and 3.65 FU and 460 g.
