Postnatal development of liver tyrosine aminotransferase and glucose-6-phosphatase, expressed as activity/g liver, occurred as rapidly in young from pregnant rats given throughout gestation a diet containing 4% casein as in young from rats given the control diet containing 18% casein supplemented with 0.3% L-methionine. Total enzyme activity/liver was less in young from deprived mothers because of their smaller size.
