Abstract
Six varieties were grown in field trials during the rabi seasons of 1971 and 1972, at five and four nitrogen levels respectively. CR10-4128 produced the greatest root volume and weight in 1971, and IR8 and Rajeswari in 1972. Both characters responded positively to an increase in nitrogen level. There was no significant variety X nitrogen interaction.
