Effect of oxytocin on milk, fat, solids-not-fat and water content in hard-to-milk buffaloes

Effect of oxytocin on milk, fat, solids-not-fat and water content in hard-to-milk buffaloes

Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 44(9): 630-636

Milk yield of 6 hard-to-milk buffaloes was increased by injection of 2.5-20 IU oxytocin; highest av. daily yield was obtained with 17.5 IU oxytocin (1.876 kg vs. 754 kg in the buffaloes before injection). Av. milk fat % was increased by oxytocin injection, particularly by 17.5 and 20 IU (overall av. in treated and non-treated animals, 9.02 and 6.75% resp.).
