Effect of rate of loading and duration of load on properties of particleboard

Effect of rate of loading and duration of load on properties of particleboard

USDA Forest Service Research Paper, Forest Products Laboratory, Madison (FPL 270): 15

Tests on four commercial particle boards and the Laboratory's standard Douglas Fir urea-bonded particle board showed that strength in bending, tension and shear decreased by 6-11% (of static strength) as the loading rate was reduced to give a 10-fold increase in the time to failure.
