Effect of seed treatment with plant growth regulators on growth and yield of onion (Allium cepa Linn.)

Onion seeds, Nasik White, were soaked in solutions of GA, NAA or IAA, each at 20, 40 or 60 p.p.m., or in water, for 14 h and their effects were compared on percentage germination and height for up to 75 days after transplanting. Germination was improved by all treatments, most of which resulted in 70-74% germination, compared with 40% for water-soaked controls.
